An account from Contalmaison describes fierce artillery bombardment and infantry actions as British forces assaulted the village. Many wounded and dead were left in dugouts as enemy resistance collapsed, with prisoners and discouraged German troopers recounting exhaustion, thirst, and brutal bombardment.
An old report notes Otton's Cordials equaling the best made in the state. Sir Henry Parker and MPs visited Bega and savored the cordial, ordering more to be sent to Sydney. Mr O Towla confirmed the same formula, explaining the famed clarity of Watery and Ginger Beer.
