General Hughes Visits 232nd Battalion
Gen John Hughes and Major Sifton inspected the 232nd battalion at Battleford on Saturday and left for the west. He praised the unit's efficiency and called its men the most gentlemanly he had inspected. He said the battalion would be sent overseas as a unit if it reaches 700, though recruitment delays and unfit men may hinder this goal.

Historic Saskatchewan rail disaster near Saskatoon kills three
The worst wreck in Northern Saskatchewan history occurred six miles south of Saskatoon on Sunday evening when a north bound passenger train struck a standing snow train. No passengers or crew on the passenger train were injured. Three men died and six were badly injured, with additional severe injuries reported among the wreck victims.
