Prongua Co operatives Ships First Hog Car

The Prongua Co-Operative Association Limited shipped its first car of live hogs on Saturday with W H Aitkinson as secretary treasurer in charge of the shipment. A Sunday service in Christchurch Prongua drew good attendance for a Thanksgiving event with Rev Haynes delivering the sermon and thanks to Mr Hammond for lighting the fire. Next Sunday December 15 will be the last winter service, the vestry approving use of the church horse during winter. A big variety sale is advertised for Saturday the 7th in town.

Nominations across rural areas show battles for reeveships and council seats. Battle River debates reeve seat between Scott and Speers, with division contests among H Franklin, D R Hooper, Arthur Barry, H Alain, and acclamation for W B Ennis in Division 1. Prairie municipality notes reeve J S Parrish elected by acclamation, with divisions 1 3 5 filled by Elling Weam Juo Pam brun T Tinlin. Division 2 features a Plater versus Kaute Ujerknoess race.

Thanksgiving Service Largely Attended at Union Church

The Methodist church overflowed for a Thanksgiving for Peace service led by Rev Canon Matheson. He noted another service four months earlier amid wartime triumph, saying prayer proved powerful. Revs Cameron and Haynes assisted, a union choir of 20 voices performed, with a solo by Mr W Newman.

A dated appeal urges residents to vote on Monday December 9 and elect councillors for divisions 3 and 5 along with a reeve for a five year term. It praises past leadership and warns against replacing trusted officials, stressing careful, honest administration and prudent handling of public funds.

Prairie No. 408 approves seed grain loan bylaw

The Rural Municipality of Prairie No. 408 enacts Seed Grain Loans to aid spring 1919 planting. It authorizes borrowing up to 10 000 dollars to purchase seed grain, secured by promissory notes and seed grain liens on crops grown from advanced seed. First, second, and third readings completed in 1918.
