The W C T U Convention in Barrie

The W C T U held a Thursday evening service at Elizabeth St Methodist Church with many men in the audience. Mrs Barney of Rhode Island, World Evangelist, spoke of Frances Willard and the global White Ribbon temperance drive. She recounted Willard’s journey and urged continued activism, with reports of prison visitations, international tours, and thousands of miles covered. The convention approved resolutions on the Lord's Day act, women's suffrage, anti-cigarette measures, and local option methods. A special vote thanked Hon. Hanna for license law enforcement, and the event closed with thanks to press and hosts, promising Belleville next and Midland the year after.
