April notes from Crossland and Midhurst report farmers nearly finished seeding while roads are good. social visits include Miss Reid with Miss Watt and Jessie Reid with relatives. a singing school, planned public concert, and weekly prayer meeting are noted along with several illnesses and a funeral in Cookstown.
An old ad claims Scott's Emulsion makes a thin body hungry and wakeful, turning food into flesh. It argues a thin person is on strike and not using food, and that Emulsion revives the body to gain weight, urging readers to request a free sample.
Epworth League and Christian Endeavor meetings draw strong attendance as Swiss Bell Ringers come tonight. D Howard's youngest daughter Sussa is ill with appendicitis. A pie aldelia auction hosted by the Literary Society will be held Friday evening in the A O U W hall with pies selling up to five or six dollars. Auctioneers are T D McLean and J S McKenney. Committees include doorkeeper Charles Parker and a list of names for social and finance roles, with J Parker and W Johnson in introductory duties.
April 28 marked a sorrowful event as the infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Wad dell died after an epileptic fit. The burial took place at Angus cemetery with Rev Scott presiding. Pallbearers were Ada Clark Mary Foster Nellie Bruce and Pearl Walkinshaw. The community offers sympathy as the mother Miss Brown recovers from illness and a substitute teacher Miss M McRae of Owen Sound began duties. The town notes new G T R carpenters Neil Shaw and Thomas Dobson at Meaford freight sheds. Rev Mr Cochrane preached at the Preshvenanan church. Dr West seeks a flowing well after drilling past 200 feet. Miss Andrew of Elmvale visits. J Ferguson will address the Simcoe Teachers Convention at Alliston May 8-9. Arbor Day urged citizens to tidy up the village by collecting loose boards and sticks.
The Presbyterian church tower will soon be finished and ready for the new bell, greatly enhancing the church’s appearance. Stayner visitors Peter Currie and Archie McCarthy called on Sunday. Reverend Dobie preached acceptably at the Methodist church. Mr Polkinghorne visited in Wahbanoshene last week. Walter Clute and Iss Jennie Wee married by Rev McClean. the Clute couple receive Elmvale's best wishes. Mrs David Robertson died Friday morning after a long illness. Mr Robertson and their little son receive communal sympathy.

Miss Allie Webb ill with mumps. Wo. Dickey slightly indisposed. James Patterson injured while framing timber for Jwo Hughes' burn. wound below knee treated, recovery hoped. Quaker services Sunday 10:30 at Methodist church. Lord's Day Alliance meets Tuesday May 6 with several pastors speaking. Seeding nearing completion locally.
