Seed Fair Highlights Strengthen Farming Practices
The Second Annual Spring Seed Fair at Town Hall, under Barrie Agricultural Society, showcased improved exhibits and a keynote by Government Judge I F Metcalf. He urged clean, well-selected seed and demonstrated head-to-plant selection over fanning mill sorting. Daniel Quinlan announced a Standing Grain Competition for oats with prizes and opportunities at Toronto and Guelph shows. Metcalf advised using field head selection and cautioned against excessive variety experimentation, favoring Guelph College Experimental work and local Collingwood plots for future trials.
