Oro Sunday School Convention Opens in Central Presbyterian Church
The thirty seventh annual Oro Sabbath School Association convention met last Thursday at Central Presbyterian Church. President A W Partridge of Crown Hill chaired sessions with members from across the township. Major speakers included J A Jackson and Rev C C Claris, who discussed organized work and child discipleship, while Rev J Russell MacLean spoke on the importance of S S work. Officers elected: Hon. Elizabeth Street Methodist Church Contract Signed for New Building
W B Cline selected as contractor for the Elizabeth Street Methodist church project with an initial figure of 13160, excluding seating, furnaces, glass, hardware and lot, total anticipated at 17300. The plan includes 30 seating capacity with 470 on the ground floor and occupation hoped in December. Mrs N Dyment offers a pipe organ for the new church. The old church opened March 24 1872, replacing the Primitive Methodist church on John Street erected in 1865 and destroyed by fire in 1871.

First Half Holiday Excursion To Big Bay Point And Jacksons Point

Close Call From Electrical Storm at Toron to St
A Friday afternoon electrical storm struck the Humphreys residence on Toron to Street. Lightning damaged the chimney and rafter near the ridge, tore up floor coverings, and sent scattered pipes and a blown tin stopper across the room. Mr Humphreys, ten feet from the stove, was slightly stunned. a terrier died instantly. Mrs Humphreys and the baby were nearby but uninjured. The storm also damaged cellar sleepers and left scorched floor behind the chair.
