Big June Sale Boosts Bargains At Local Stores

From Vickers to Hunter Bros big June Sale ads promise cut prices on coats suits and shirts. A wide range of merchandises including ladies wear washing sales and mattress deals fill the town pages along with notices of weddings births and church events. Notable items include 10 showerproof coats 5.98 and 4.75 boys tweed suits 1.89, while Robt Christie of Toronto buys Woodlands and plans improvements.

Boards of Education Make Staffing and Budget Adjustments

At Monday night’s board meeting Philip Love was appointed to fill the Gibson vacancy. Public school and collegiate budgets total about $20,000 this year with levy funding. Eleven teachers petitioned for a $500 maximum salary starting September 1907. Inspector Mills praised schools overall but urged kindergarten classes, better attendance control, and two five month terms. 1907 estimates show $19,000 for public schools and $7,905.50 for collegiate expenses, with levies to raise the balance. A ballot elected P. Love to the vacancy. Geo. Ball received 2 votes. Committees added Westney and Love. coal tenders and old seat iron sales were approved. Jacob Martin nominated for the Entrance Board. entrance exams set for June 21–28.

A Fair Young Life Ended

Miss Mary Isabel Fletcher daughter of Dr Fletcher died yesterday morning after a illness that began with a hill in Toronto and later pneumonia. She was a Christian with many fine qualities and her funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m.

Time Table Changes Affect G T R Summer Schedule

Next Sunday the G T R summer timetable alters departures and arrivals. The morning No 61 from Toronto moves from 9:00 to 8:10, reaching Barrie at 10:40 and delaying to Orillia at 10:55. Connections adjust as No 53 from Hamilton reaches Allandale at 10:35 and No 55 arrives Allandale at 8:00, enabling stems to Penetang Colllingwood and Midland at Orillia.

Warden Hosts County Council Visit to Big Bay Point

Warden Boys entertains County Council Town Council and officials at Big Bay Point aboard the Geneva. Races baseball and a tea supper followed a two hour trip from Bayfield Street. Jupp and Boys win playoff 10 to 9 with Mayor Bennett among those applauding the hospitality.

Late Robert Graham of Innisfil Passes Away After 50 Years

The 50 years resident of Innisfil on the ninth line, Robert Graham, died last Friday morning. A former section foreman for the Northern Railway from Allandale southward, he moved to a farm on the ninth line in 1801 and remained there. Born in Surrey England he was a former London teacher. He belonged to St. Pauls Innisfil, where his remains were laid to rest on Sunday. He leaves a widow and six children, two sons and four daughters.

Early Ora settlement reviewed by Lt Col O'Brien

At the Historical Society meeting Lt Col O'Brien read a paper on Early Days in Ora, noting settlement chiefly by English Highland Scotch and Negroes, most of the latter leaving. He recalled Steele election of 1841 and quartering soldiers at Kempenfeldt, with election cost seven hundred pounds, and other early events referenced in the talk.

Volunteers Head to Camp Niagara in Fine Weather

Perfect weather aided volunteers departing for Camp Niagara on Tuesday. The Simcoe Foresters under Lt-Col McPhee were at full strength. They reached Tolgate and crossed by boat. "A" Squadron Mississaga Force under Major Burtom made a gallant showing. Cavalry rode by rail via Hamilton due to horse transport. Camp duration set at ten days.

Lacrosse clash ends tight as Bradford edges Barrie

Bradford won from Barrie by a close score of 2 to 1 in a lacrosse match at Agricultural Park on Monday afternoon. Newmarket trailed Barrie 9 to 6 in the junior district last Wednesday.
