One Month in Jail for Joseph Clayton in Hendrie Shootings

In Ontario interim county court Judge Vance sentenced Joseph Clayton to a month in jail after hearing evidence in the Hendrie shooting case. The Crown presented testimony from W. J. Bell and witnesses including John Binnie and family members. Clayton claimed the boys provoked him and that he fired only after being threatened. The defense noted the presence of two revolvers and a 32 rifle with multiple shots fired, while witnesses described shots hitting the buggy and clothing. The judge urged citizens not to take the law into their own hands.
