A gold pin set in pearls and turquoise was lost on the steamer Enterprise on Saturday. Finder will please leave it at Messrs Hewson and Creswillke's Office. 453.
A notice from Constable of Craigvale states that a pair of eight month old steel calves, spotted red and white, strayed from Lot 23 Concession 9 Innistil on July 18. A reward is offered by Alex.

The Dundas correspondent of the Hamilton Spectator notes that H G Robertson, who has run a successful Dundas drug business for five years, has sold out to H W Ralph who assumed possession Monday morning. Robertson is praised as a progressive citizen with many friends from town council service and business activity.

George M. Reid, president of the Ontario Federation of Liberal Clubs, announces an Educational Excursion to Sault Ste. Marie under the federation’s auspices. Miss Bella Ross, third daughter of Mrs. Wm. Ross, married Mr. Daniel Baikie of Sudbury at the bride's mother's home on Essa streets. Rev. H. D. Cameron officiated at 3 pm with close relatives present. Bridesmaid Miss Minnie Ross, groom’s attendant Mr. S. E. Wright. Honeymoon on the Northern Lakes, then Sudbury residence. Also notes on Miss Ethel Cross singing, clergy exchanges, Dr. Arnall’s illness, railway changes, a moonlight excursion, and the Pickering inquiry into Stephen Westney’s death.
During a Monday evening storm, lightning struck H. McDermott’s Millington house and demolished the chimney. The bolt passed into the parlor and damaged all in the room except the piano, which happened to be uninsured. Mr. McDermott considers himself fortunate.
Adjt Burrows of Barrie travels to Toronto for marriage to Capt F Bowers. Ceremony conducted by Colonel Jacobs in the 8 A Temple on Monday Sept 2. Bridal party returns Sept 10 for a supper and reception at Music Hall hosted by Staff Capt Creighton with local Citizens' Band performing.
Miss Martha Crispin formerly of Barrie attends Ottawa Normal School after leaving Monck Ontario where she taught at Monck Baptist church for nearly three years. The church presented a handsome lamp and a heartfelt address praising her faithful organ playing and service. The note wishes God’s blessing on her future endeavors and life’s journey. Signed by church members and friends including Rev. Robert J. Garrett and several ladies.
The Opera House in Barrie will open with a high class vaudeville program starting Labor Day. Three humorists Harvey Boyd Charlie Lyons and Munro Park star alongside monologist B B Tesseman. Miss Marietta LaDell will read, praised nationwide for her charms. Girona banjoist with Irvine and Shew's Theatre Standard will join on guitar.
Barrie edged Uxbridge 66 58 in a tight second meeting on the opponents grounds. L Vyvyan beat D M Stewart 1 6 6 3 6 4. W A Boys beat Dr Biscom 6 3 6 0. Choppin beat Dr Clark. Wallace beat C H F Plummer 7 5 6 2. Doubles Boys and Stewart beat Vyvyan and Bascom 7 5 6 4. Clark and Wallace beat Choppin and Plummer 7 5 6 4.
The Harrie Boating Club plans a regatta next Monday at 2 PM with events including Ladies and Gents tandem Stern foremost Three paddles Upset Gents singles and doubles Ladies doubles and a tilting contest. Harry Scurry competes in run swim and paddle events. Also greasy pole swimming and tub races listed for Barrie entries.
The Barrie junior lacrosse team traveled to Orillia with the G T R employee excursion for a return game against Orillia Collegiate. Orillia won 6 to 2 after taking a 3 0 start. Barrie scorers were Vair and Reid while Donaldson and Curran each tallied thrice for Orillia. Referee WW Plewes officiated.
A large party from Limekiln Club plus guests from Peninsular Park Hotel and Robinson House enjoyed a delightful Wednesday evening dance at Peninsular Park Hotel. The Barrie group included Miss Kirby of Toronto and many accompanying ladies and gentlemen.
Mary Cripps, a young worker at the Queen's Hotel, narrowly escaped death from gas asphyxiation. She went to bed after nine, locked window and fanlight, woke to find the room full of gas, and lay unconscious until doctors revived her. It is believed she may have turned the jet back on by mistake after initial leakage.
Vaudeville season opens with A Breezy Time at the Opera House on Thursday September Sth. Marks Bros begin rehearsals on September 4th and schedule their public debut for Saturday September 7th. Edouard D'Oize may return before season end to perform in The Mountebank with Barrietles.

The Right Rev. Bishop Latane of Baltimore preached at Christ Church on Sunday, delivering a morning sermon from Acts 26 20 about the Gospel’s relevance across ages. He drew parallels between Paul’s trials before Felix Festus and King Agrippa and modern church experiences, noting how excuses delay preaching. The church was full for both services.
At Barrie on August 11 Robert Dunlop of Sophia Street died aged 8 years. In Seaforth on Friday August 23 1901 Jean Callaugher Laird widow of late Samuel Laird died aged 107 years 9 months 23 days after falling into a deep sleep the day before.
