Lightning Sets On Fire Trinity Church Tower
A lightning strike during a severe storm hit the Trinity Anglican Church steeple on Collier Street, igniting the top of the structure but causing only slight damage. Firefighters led by Chief J. Shrubsole quickly contained the blaze, using the truck pump to reach the high tower. The storm dropped 1.5 inches of rain, with heavy downpour between six and seven.

Paddling and Music Enter Big Crowd at Regatta
The Bar rie Aquatic Club held its second regatta on Thursday July 27 drawing a large crowd. Millard won the singles race and the gunwale race with Liscomb second. Millard and Webb won the doubles. A swimming event drew two entrants with Clark Scott narrowly taking first in the race. The band entertained after the events despite poor lighting.

Simcoe Farmers Harvest Prospects Revealed by Official
A. Hutchinson, District Agricultural Representative, reports Simcoe County farmers are seeing a very encouraging crop situation. Fall wheat is above normal, oats excellent, barley fair, and root crops splendid. Potatoes are plentiful and a large hay yield is expected. Grey County also notes high yields with wheat at about 49 bushels per acre and oats 70 to 100 bushels.
