Pingeyrar Flugvollur and Pingeyrar Airfield History
Pingeyrar Flugvollur has been used 15 times since August first. Isafjardar Flugvollur serves as backup for Isafjardar. Plans to complete Bingeyrarflugvoll to full operational status were discussed by Sturla Bodvarsson in 2005 after investigations. Arnor Jona Tansson notes no nationwide solution yet, urging licensing for aviation safety upgrades at Isafjardar. The airfield has seen upgrades since 1996 with a 1200 meter runway and safety lighting and supporting structures, though wind and visibility kept limited operations.
