West Australian Water Supply opens at Coolgardie
A large gathering including Federal Ministers and state officials attended the Mount Charlotte ceremony to inaugurate the Western Australian water scheme. Sir John Forrest led the drive, praising the project’s vision to channel water 450 miles from Perth to Coolgardie and Kalgoorlie, with 65 pumping engines and 66,597 pipes. The scheme, costing about 2,850,000 pounds, aims to boost prosperity, support agriculture, and power rail and mining operations, with long term benefits for the interior.
