A lengthy council meeting discusses river embankment, street repairs, and rates. Officials consider reviving a public works program, appointing a riding committee to oversee improvements, and addressing telecommunication and water concerns while balancing costs and timelines.
Public notice promotes war savings certificates offered by Commonwealth Bank of Australia and State Savings Bank. Details include deposits, denominations from £10 to £1000, 3 year term, interest 3 percent, exemptions from wealth levy stamp duty and tax. Certificates transferable between owners, redeemable at banks or post offices, and framed as a patriotic appeal urging citizens to buy to support the war effort.
A fragmented OCR page lists names, places, and business entries around the Bacchus Marsh telephone exchange including references to warehouses, stores, hotels, a railway station, and various trades. The snippet mentions the Melton exchange and multiple persons and firms connected to the area with scattered notes on transportation, banking, and services.
Local notice lists Cass C.K Wynne and partners tied to an undertaker and general goods operation on Mainn Street in Racchus Mares with a tall stock allowance noted.
An unclear wartime appeal urges Australians to support relief for veterans and civilians. The message lists names and groups, notes fundraising efforts starting July 27, and mentions the aim to mobilize national aid, including outfitting and medical care, while acknowledging challenges in organizing supporters.
A wartime appeal honors Australian forces fighting in France and the Pacific. It underscores individual responsibility, praises the courage of the Australian divisions, and argues Australia must keep its troops in Europe to uphold freedom, warning that undermanned forces would dishonor the nation.
