[Communicated. JWetdea WeMtof.One ol the moat enjoyable occasionsever allotted ua in life’s weary pathwaywhs had at the residence of Mr. and Mra. C. A. Ball, in Posey township, last Tuesday, it being the fifth aniversary of their marriage. There were present, Mr. and Mra. I. W. Stuart, parents of Mra. Ball, Col. M. S. Peden and wife, Henry Ball and wife, Brastus Ball and wife, and Mias Laura Stuart, of.Knights-town ; Mr. Edward Barrett and wife, of Eden, Hancock county ; Mrs. James, of Amo, Ind.; and Rev. T. B. Gary and j wife, of Carthage.The day was very fine, and the frieuds nil seemed happy in social conversation tiil the summons came to sit down to refreshments. The table was loaded with the choicest selections, and right I well did the guests show their appreciation of Mrs. Ball's cuisine ability in their preparation. After dinner quite interesting remarks were made by Col. Peden in tendering the following pres-cnts : Clothes-raok, I. W. Stuart, Esq.; Crout-cutter, Mrs. Janies, Arno, Ind.; waste basket, Col. Peden and wife, Knigbtstown ; comb-caseand towel rack,I Mrs. M. Stuart; match safe, Mrs. M. Stuart; paper holder, Mrs. Sadie Bar-| rett; flower stand, II. Ball and wife, hand sled to little Merrill, Erastus Bail. The hospitable host, though not given to speech making, made a few half choking remarks in response to the kind, donors and at a late hour in the afternoon the company dispersed, leaving their best wishes upon the happy family, jMention ought to be made of Mrs.; Asenath Ball, the surviving wife of the late Jonathan Ball, who resides at this; her old homestead with her youngest son. She enjoys a green old age, having j passed tha seventy-fifth milestone of; years in the highway of life. All whoj know this grand old lady do but admire I and love her. Her house has been a centre of hospitality, plenty and peace for over 41 years, since leaving the Keystone State. B.
