Harmel Sr., of Mcgargel, was observed with a reunion of the immediate family at Evergreen, Colorado. Six of the couple's seven children and three of their seven grandchildren were present for the happy occasionSeveral days of informal visiting and sightseeing were climaxed with an anniversary dinner honoring Mr and Mrs. Harmel on Sat urday night at the Brook Forest Inn A wedding cake, decorated in gold, centered the table, and the invocation was given by Chris Harmel, a grandson, aged 8Highlight of the celebration was the reading of a congratulatorymessage from Mrs P K. Thorson. of St. Paul, Minnesota, the wife of the Lutheran pastor who officiated at their marriage on August 24 1(H)7. in CliftonMis Harmel, the former Miss Clara Olsen, a daughter of th** late Petter Olsen and Mrs Helene Ol sen. was born at 223 South Avenue H in Clifton and continued to live in the same house until after her marriage to Mr Harmel.Born m Washington County. MrHarmel moved to Clifton as avoting man. where for several Years*he was employed by P F Schowand BrosIn the spring of 1910 Mr and Mr'- Harmel left Clifton and went to Megargel to make their home In that city Mr. Harmel was aso-ciated with the W O Wright General Merchandise Store until 1922, at which time he became a fulltime farmer and rancher. When oil was discovered in the Swastika Pool near Megargel. Mr Harmel became active in the leasing phase of the oil business.Both Mr and Mrs. Harmel have been active in school affairs at Megargel for more than 40 vears. having had one or more children , in the Megargel Public Schools con tinuously from 1916 until 1954 Mr Harmel also served as a mem her of the Board of Trustees for the Megargel Schools for manv years Mrs. Harmel is a member of the 1933 Study Club, a federat ed women’s club in that citvOther highlights of the goldenanniversary year for this fine couple have been visits with several members of the Schow and Wright families with whom in past years they were associated in Clifton and Megargel, respectively During their residence in Megargel Mr. and Mrs Harmel also have continued to visit with home folks in Clifton from time to timeChildren of Mr and Mis.
