John Weir, of New York, presidentof the N evada-Utsth Mines ancI Smelters,has offered to present to the government, to be hung in the White House, his painting of the late President Mclvintey. The ,picture, which Is now on exhibition in a local gallery, will be viewed to-day by. Senators JEToraker and Elkins, Secretary Cortelyou, and Secretarv Laeb.If it is accepted, the picture, will replace one of the third martyr President now in the White House Tf the Federal government declines the offer, it is the intention of Col. Weir to present the picture to'the State of Ohio, to be hung- in the state-house at Columbus.
