1 1 ™Syracuse Theaters to Continue Uninterrupted During BlackoutTonight’s blackout will not interfere with operation of Syracuse theaters, although they will be “blacked out” on the outside.Announcement that theaters willbe in normal operation during theblackout was made by managers of downtown theaters, Frank Murphy, Harry Unterfort and Sidney Grossman, representing Loew’s, RKO-Schine and neighborhood theaters respectively.Two double-feature programs of remarkably high caliber open at downtown Syracuse theaters today.Sharing equal billing at Loew’s are “The Vanishing Virginian,” based on Rebecca Yancey Williams’ biography of her father, and “Nazi Agent,” in which Conrad Veidt assumes a dual characterization.The “Virginian” is a comedy of typhical American family life star-rng Frank Morgan, Kathryn Grayson and Spring Byington. Frank Borzage directed. The cast of 'Nazi Agent” includes Ann Ayars, rising M-G-M starlet.Also featured, on the Loew’s program is the latest radio news, broadcast to the theater during each news reel by Glenn Williams, Syracuse news commentator. Williams’ announcements are up-to-minute, changing with each broadcast.«trt^At Keith’s, top billing is given to he Lady Has Plans,” a lively comedy co-starring Paulette Goddard and Ray Mill and. The “plans” in this case are tattooed in invisible ink on the back of an Axis Mata Har, for whom Miss Goddard—who portrays a newspaper woman—is mistaken. As a result, most of the farce deals with attempts to disrobe one or the other of the leading ladies.Of equal interest on Keith’s bill is the associate feature, “Mr. BugAnswer to Today*! CrosswordGoes to Town,” a full-length Max Fleischer cartoon which has been compared very favorably with the Disney offerings.A newsreel and the latest “Superman” cartoon round out Keith’s program.Beginning a week’s holdover engagement at the Eckel today is “Roxie Hart,” the Ginger Rogers farce of “The Roaring Twenties.” The co-feature is “Secret Agent of Japan.”Wee Bonnie Baker, “the tiny atom of song,” tops the stage show opening tomorrow at the Strand, Up until 1939, Miss Baker was just another’singer with a band—in this case, Otrin Tucker’s.
