DOUBLE ANNIVERSARY OBSERVEDOver 200 relatives and friends attended open house at the Sigvald Sommervold home, rural Akron, on Sunday June 13 in celebration of the double wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Burkholder (the former Esther Sommervold) and Mr. and Mrs. Sigvald Sommervold. The couples were married June 2, 1956 at East Side Lutheran Chapel, Sioux Falls, by Dr. Harry R. Gregerson.The program which was presented in the former Pleasant Hill schoolhouse which has been moved to the Sommervold farm, was in charge of Mr. Roy Abraham. There was community hymn singing led by Mr. William Bohlen, Scripture, prayer and a talk by Dr. T. P. Solem, piano solo by Marlene Ofstehage, vocal solo Bless This House by Bernard Ofstehage, vocal duet Sweeter as the Years Roll By by Marvin Sommervold and Otto Stene, and a Happy Anniversary' Song by Jill and Ross Abraham. Mrs. Evelyn Sommervold told the history of the brides and grooms and their romances and Patricia Ofstehage added a surprise feature with an original poem.Refreshments were served in the residence. Mrs. Hilda Klemme and Miss Agnes Halderson presided at the silver service and Pamela Wetrosky and Brenda Wevik served punch. Others helping with the serving were Mrs. Herbert Swanson and Mrs. Richard Ball, Linda and Janice Jampgaard, Lois and Gail Aklaijd, LeAnn Klemme and ; Vernon Christopher son. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Akland were host add hostess and Mrs. Gerald Alter and Mrs. Dick Matson were at the guest books. Mr. Robert Abraham and Mr. Richard Akland were in charge of a ball game and Mrs. Robert Abraham, Mrs. Richard Akland and Mrs. ( Ordell Akland directed games for the ] smaller children.Among guests from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hoff, Minneapolis; Miss Agnes Haldersen, Omaha; Miss Halene Jacobson, Inwood, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Merlyn Sommervold and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Matson and families, Sioux Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Alter and family,1 Mr. and Mrs. Ed Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Osborne Sandberg, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Larson, Sioux City; Mr. and Mrs. Jay Robertson and Beth, Marcus, Iowa; Mr, and Mrs. Julian Holter, Canton.Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Burkholder returned to their home in Wheat Ridge, Colo* rado on Monday.
