Negro School To Begin Monday- jSupt. W. C. Cummings told The Sun yesterday that the Whitewright Negro school will start Monday and operate for six weeks, then recess for six weeks for cotton picking. Decision was made to start the school at this time because of the fact that a bus will be operated to transport i Negro eighth grade and high school students to Sherman, and the Sherman school will start Monday. About 15 Negroes will ride the bus from Whitewright, and the bus will pick up other Negro students at White Rock. The bus will operate over the ; | new Whitewright-Sherman farm-to-market road.At the recent school board meeting, Wilson Kaiser was appointed a member of the board to succeed โ Russell Summers, who resigned to I become mayor of Whitewright.The board appointed Mrs. Lollacef j May to be a teacher in the grade school, subject to assignment. Mrs.! ; May has been teaching in the Bells school for several years, t A teacher to replace Bryce Lon-, don has not yet been employed, Mr.); Cummings said. However, he has tentatively decided on a teacher who is qualified to teach in either school. ยป and is a basketball coach. Mr. Lon-a don, who coached basketball in addi-1 tion to his teaching duties, resigned - to accept a more lucrative place in the Grandprairie school system.Mr. Cummings said the high school and grade school will prob-! ably open Sept. 11, although no decision has been made.t
