NEWTON COLE told us a story this week that proves not all folks who reach retirement age are too lazy to work. It seems that a wagon load of eordwood pulled by a team of donkeys drove up at the home of Finis Stephens east of town, and the driver. who lived near Bonham, admitted that he was lost. He wanted to get to White Rock, a Negro settlement between Whitewright and Sherman. The Negro told Finis that he was 81 years old, that he had cut the load of eordwood himself, and was en route to White Rock to give the wood to his mother. There are so many folks nowadays who become unable to do any work just as soon as they can qualify for a pension of some sort, that it is refreshing to find somebody who can still do a little work past the retirement age.
