New Station Sets OpeningGrand opening of the now Union j Station at 701 Central Valley Highway will be held on Saturday, ! according to Jack Maxberry, j Shafter petroleum dealer who will o|erato the unit. mFeaturing a super, four-pump set up, the station is conveniently_ % ‘ * J * CJ1 *located next to the Shafter Post-office. It was constructed by the Shafter building firm of Dalke Brothers. ■, ,Maxberry, who has been residing in Shafter since 1931 and has been operating tlu* smaller Union Station on Central Valley Highway, said prizes and gifts will be given away at the grand opening. jBorn and raised in Oklahoma, Maxberry spent six years in the gas station business at Oakland before coming to Shafter. He also spent two years with the Army in the Pacific Theater.He has a wife, Lois, and a daugh- I ter, Betly. now attending Rich- j land School.
