Shower'S, Norma Ann Headley and the Garden Wedding Chapel, 3020 E. Third.Norman, 24, of Compton, met Norma, 22, when he was a student in Alton, 111., under the GI Bill. They fell in love and when Norman came home to Compton to continue studies for his master's degree at the University of Southern California he worked nights to save money to get married.The wedding was p\a::r.cd for Christmas and Norman v,*rs going hack East for the ceremony.Then on Dec. 5 Norman was involved in an automobile accident. lie was treated at a Compton Hospital and then at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Long Beach for leg injuries and skull fracture.The money he’d saved for his wedding was used and Norman wrote Norma that he could not go East as planned.Norma wrote back that she wasn't, marrying him for his money and that, she was comingand Norman, who lives with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Warden Showers, of Compton, made plans for their wedding.Bob Ellis and Mrs. Caroline Wolfe, who run the Garden Wedding Chapel, learned about the. young couple and decided they had found somebody they could do something for this Christmas.First, they are going to give the pair a bang-up wedding—on the house.Second, they decided that the bride-to-bc should have her mother here with her, so they paid her plane fare here from Alton, III. Hob drove the young couple out to Los Angeles International Airport yesterday to meet Mrs. Headley.Plane reservations are tough to get this time of the year, but Sparky Wayne in the TWA office at Long Beach caught the spirit of the thing and cleared the way for Mrs. Headley.As part of their Christmas present to the young couple, the wedding chapel is giving the couple one-night honey-youngto him. She hopped a Greyhound j moon accommodations .through bus and when she got ho-‘e she j co-operation with Holiday Inn.Ellis said he is trying to get the young people established here.
