Naval Welcome Home Ball Draws Small Attendance

The local Naval Welcome Committee hosted a children’s ball at Wave in the Town Hall on Thursday night. Despite the effort to entertain the Bays in Blue, attendance by children and adults was lower than expected, though those present enjoyed dancing and games until 11.30, with a supper served in the lower hall. Prizes for fancy dresses went to Baby Smith Persian Lady BE Ruet Tranayi Daphne Woollett Fairy while Dorothy Grein Kewpig received a special award. Music by Mrs Livesey Misses ib bon and M Dixon with C P O Smith as MC. Adults danced after 1am, then departed after an enjoyable event. Credit is given to the community for the well-run arrangements.

Australian Natives Meet at Alt Hon y Branch AWA Meeting

The fortnightly Alt hony branch of the AWA held a well attended meeting in the lower Town Hall on Thursday night 22nd inst. President Merrifield chaired. Topics included the Albany Cricket Association discussion and preparations for the next annual conference in Perth at Easter. Nominations for office bearers were announced and delegates were urged to attend the next session with proposals for the agenda.
