Returned Soldiers' League Meeting In Albany

The Albany sub branch of the Returned Soldiers Sailors and Nurses Imperial League held a Tuesday night gathering at the Soldiers Institute. New chairman W H L Cooper presided. various correspondences were read, including repatriation pension notes and Narrogin and Kendenup requests. Trustees were set with the Women's Auxiliary, and a motion barred branch representation at functions without an official invitation. finances were tight but helped by the Auxiliary donation. The next meeting date was set for Tuesday in three weeks.

Young Auckland Sculler Wins New Zealand Amateur Championship

W Stevenson, a 20 year old from Auckland, captured the New Zealand amateur sculling championship long held by Hadfield. He began rowing with Auckland Rowing Club at 16 and quickly rose, mentored largely by Hadfield, to be regarded as New Zealand’s most promising sculler with a bright future. Stevenson’s modest, popular demeanor has earned broad goodwill among rivals.
