Nell Maintoah long resident of Acton for thirty five years died Friday after illness. She came to Acton from Rockwood with her husband who died two years ago. Maintoah worked at Boardmore & Co for twenty years, last as foreman. Survived by three children Jean in London Myrat and others. She was devoted to St Joseph Church and active in church work. Funeral Monday conducted by Ben McAteavy. Burial at Dublin Cemetery plot.
Council debated connecting Beardmore waterworks to Acton waterworks for fire use. Jame Redfern & Co. argued against backflow, proposing check valves requiring Health Board approval. An auxiliary gasoline engine was suggested to boost pump capacity. a further test and cost estimates were ordered.
The Attorney General Hon. W. K. Nickle KC approves the simplified ballot for the Ontario Temperance Act. Voters will mark a cross only opposite the single question and abstain from opinion on the other. A sample ballot will be produced for Plebiscite Day to guide the process.

Exchange of weekend visits features many school pupils and upcoming marriages of Daisy May to George Claytog. references to Toronto Normal School students and long weekend trips to Sarnia, Detroit, and Chicago.
Acton reorganizes business leaders into Acton Chamber of Commerce after earlier decline. Officers elected include Peter Smith president and H P Moore as vice president. Members plan initial meeting, adopt constitution and by laws, with support from Guelph Chamber of Commerce officials visiting soon to share guidance.
William P. G. Hackett, a recent graduate of Guelph Collegiate Institute, won the John McCrae Scholarship valued at about 1100 dollars. He will study political science at the University of Toronto and pursue a law career, after a strong record on examinations and papers. Hackett, son of Rev. Charles Hackett of Tara, Ontario, plans to attend Toronto, with his brother Arthur accompanying him for a visit to their parents in Tara. The note mentions Coates, Wembley Exhibition, and remarks from the Guelph Mercury about his promise.
