Mayor’s Bombshell Signals Plan Return to Acton
Mayor Les Duby stunned council Tuesday night announcing the official plan could return to Acton on Thursday. Deputy reeve Tyler doubted it while councillor Coats and Pat McKenzie quipped about election action if Middlesex losses. The mayor and Reeve Frank Oakes met Toronto officials and the Ontario Municipal Board chair, who promised the plan would arrive in Acton after months of delay. The pair also sought the OMB chair Kennedy’s view on developing the industrial park as the board signaled support for a $50,000 earmark.

Collision on Mill near tracks injures two drivers
Police investigate a two car collision on Mill near the tracks Saturday. Tom Fidler, 48 Nelson Ct, reported $100 damage while James Laughton, 70 Nelson Ct, reported $125 damage. Fidler attempted a turn from Mill onto Bower when the crash happened.

Four Break-Ins Reported In Acton Weekend
Acton OPP investigated four break-ins likely on Friday evening. Lakeview subdivision saw three incidents and the hydro office one. Robert McGregor family home on Elmore Drive lost about $75, Vic Bristow on Elizabeth Drive $150 cash and a coin collection, Bray residence broken window with no losses, hydro office intrusion took about $7 in drinks. Police urge residents to report suspicious activity.

Acton Train Crash Claims 13 Year Old Life
A Sunday dawn crash at the Main St N crossing in Acton killed 13 year old Gerard Gauthier of Toronto and seriously injured 20 year old Gerald Prevost of Acton. The freight train derailed a cement hopper car wheel. Prevost survived with concussion and a fractured knee, while Gerard Gauthier died in the wreckage. Coroner J Hunter and local police investigated. funeral services were held in Toronto.
