New nylon plastic plant eyed for Acton site

Polymere Corporation of Reading Pennsylvania explores Acton locations incl the Acton Industrial Centre. Four year old celiac child tastes gluten free bread

Robbie Hall, a four year old with celiac disease, tasted his first bite of bread made from special gluten free flour at Earl's Bakery in Acton. Owner Earl Tebow arranged the custom flour after learning of the boy's allergy. the bakery notes the bread is costly to produce.

Lights at Mill Main intersection may cost town

Council heard a committee report reveal that the Department of Transport supports installing stoplights at the Mill Main Street junction but would require the town to bear all costs. Deputy Reeve Parker noted past refusals for town funded lights and the panel agreed to await written confirmation from the department before deciding on funding.

School board bans mini skirts tennis and dance

Enrolment at Acton district high totals 428 this term, down from 443 two years ago and 433 last year, as Principal Hansen releases figures to board members. The board also reviews class roll specifics and notes a teacher wearing a mini shirt, with checks planned. A request from Ester Smith of M. Z. Bennett school for use of the high school auditorium for gym classes is to be considered.
