Small Car Fire Sparks Escape On Queen St
A Burlington driver escaped as his small sports car ignited on Queen St and rolled nearly a quarter mile before occupants noticed. Constable John Hodgins stopped the car on No 7 highway and used a cruiser extinguisher until firemen arrived. Investigators believe a short circuited battery cable ignited brake fluid.

Town pursuing Warne farm water source and council actions
The town signed a six month option to purchase about an acre on Fourth Line from Mr. and Mrs. Warne to enable International Water Supply Ltd to drill for water likely to boost supply by about 350 gallons per minute. Acton Bowlers Win New Trophy For Runners-Up
The Inter-County Lawn Bowling League season finale at Guelph Lawn Bowling Club featured two 12 end mixed doubles matches with Georgetown Acton and Rockwood, plus a jitney, and a roast beef dinner for over 60. Beardmore trophy was awarded to George Perry of Rockwood, who presented it to the Guelph club as league winners, while the Bell Memorial Trophy honored runners-up for Acton club.
