Acton Planning Board asked by council to prepare an annexation plan while reviewing a zoning by law. Allan P Deacon, the planning consultant, said policy shifts by the DPD mean some areas may still be shown as residential or commercial based on existing improvements. The board authorized Deacon to begin a study of the proposed annexation area and to report back at the earliest convenience.

A two vehicle collision on Highway 3B north of the S bend involved Peter Pap Yon of Acton and Allan E Turner of Riverplace Crescent Milton. Damage was estimated at 550 by O P P officer Ray Andress. Neither driver was injured.

County Halts Open Deer Season as Neighbors Decline

School Board approves new teacher and noon lunch policy
The Mo Z Bennett School Board, chaired by JW Wolfe, met for September and approved a new teaching engagement Miss Wiebe from Galt and a new PT teacher Mr Orr for both Robert Linke and Mo Z Bennett schools. They approved an insurance plan, home economics and kindergarten needs, new books, bicycle racks, and a no noon lunch policy with principal exceptions. The finance statement of 3004 dollars was approved and payment authorized. a staff meeting plan and uniform teaching standards were endorsed. A student injury was reported from a trip ending in an arm fracture.

Tannery Blaze Quickly Quelled
Acton Fire Department responded to a tannery fire at Beardmore Tannery on Friday evening. The blaze likely began when a cigarette butt was dropped on a rail bridge, and firefighters extinguished it quickly, causing minor bridge damage. Brownies began meetings last Monday night.
