Duncan Campbell and T. Amos, both of Moffat, led winners in the ONE Short hhoyn cattle classes. Bellona Princess dominated the circuit with seven Canadian show wins, while Junior Champion Hellyn Browndale Guilda was sold for 2500 dollars to James Douglas & Bons. Myatic Prince, defeated for Senior Champion, was Reserve Grand Champion and won the Freysing Trophy as best Canadian bred bull. Amos captured multiple reserves and junior and senior champions in the dual purpose Shorthorn.

Acton School Board approves repairs and supplies
The Acton School Board met Tuesday evening with five members present and the chairman presiding. They ordered chimney repairs at the Public School, reviewed completion of the fence, approved book purchases for the library, and authorized various supply and repair payments. The sealing of the school roof and chimney work were discussed, with contractors allowed to retain remaining shingles after completion.

Is This The First Plea In Oakville Court
Kathleen MacKettrick of Toronto pleaded guilty in Oakville police court to driving under liquor and reckless driving. She was sentenced to ten days in Milton jail and fined ten dollars plus costs, with the second sentence to run concurrently. Chief Constable David Kerr described a Monday night chase along Colborne Street ending when police car blocked the accused. The vehicle had been in an accident with a flat tire and damaged fender. He said the driver was intoxicated.

A Sunday morning crash on the highway about five miles east of Acton left Ben Green of Toronto and Eric Guthrie of Guelph with serious injuries. Guthrie’s car overturned in a ditch. Mrs Jones and her son Trevor were injured, and Mrs Guthrie suffered severe shock. The other vehicle stayed on the road. Chief Marshall of Georgetown investigated and victims received medical care in Acton.

The Fire Brigade answered two calls during the weekend. A fire started behind a hay stack east of town linked to boys smoking, destroying two stacks while a third was saved. John Gibson Obituary of a Bracebridge Beadmore employee
John Gibson aged 72 died after months of illness at his Crescent Street home. Born in Monck Township he worked nearly fifty years for Beardmore Co. and later moved with his family to Acton. He married Sara Vincent in 1877 and Bella Nixon in 1900, leaving multiple children and siblings. Funeral held at Acton United Church with interment in Fairview Cemetery.

Eden Mills Mill Accident Leaves Young Man Critically Injured
James Barden aged 24 of Eden Mills suffered a skull fracture when a circular saw at his father’s mill threw wood into his forehead. He was admitted to Guelph General Hospital and later showed light improvement. The incident occurred at the Eden Mills mill where he was working.
