The Baptist Sunday School held their annual picnic in a shady grove near Lima bound crossroad last Wednesday. Weather was fine, crowd pleasant, and a very pleasant afternoon was spent. School and church notices follow with local anniversary celebrations and service changes included.
Acton Rangers defeated Creditvale 6 to 3 after a 6 PM start with Mochrie and Brannan scoring for Acton. Ulster United then beat Acton 4 to 2 on Monday as Acton conceded early goals and fought back with Mochrie and Brannan scoring.
Acton girls opened with a 10 8 win at Eden Mills on Friday then fell 10 7 to the Kitchener City League Records on Saturday. They then competed in the Dundas Rug by Association tournament in Dundas, drawing the Toronto Kendals and losing, before a consolation win 10 4 over Hummingtao tour and a 6 4 loss to the Hamilton Imperial. Dorothy Radner of Acton died last Wednesday after years of illness at Woodstock. She was admired for fancy work and had many friends locally. Survived by brothers Alfred, Henry, Jacob, John, Walter and sister Mrs. Arthur. funeral at St. Alban's Church and interment at Viewview Cemetery. James Erwin, Campbellville resident, died August 20 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Guelph at age 88. Former lumberman and farmer, conservative politician, survived by wife Miss Sarah Easterbrook and children. service at Ebenezer Church. large turnout. Mrs. George Dills West Howey Avenue passed away after a long illness, age seventy, widow of John Dills. Survived by children Park, Arlos, Myrtle, and others. funeral at Acton with burial at Wall View Cemetery.
