Right hand amputated after embossing press accident
Herbert Dodds, employee of Beardmore & Co., suffered a severe crush injury to his right hand at a local plant on Tuesday night. Hospital admission led to wrist amputation. several coworkers were present on the night shift. The embossing leather machine had operated for some time, with no clear cause identified. Streetsville Man Killed In Weekend Car Crash
One man, Raymond Lamb aged 22 of Streetsville, died after his car rolled over early Saturday. Three companions, Murray McMillan 20 Michael Coughlin 20 Roy Dowling 21, escaped injuries. A separate early morning crash near Milton involved Jean Bellamy 21 staying in Stayner and four others who were treated and released. Crown counsel announced a subsequent inquest. The September meeting of the Duke of Devonshire Chapter held at Mrs. Peter Smith’s home was led by Mrs. F Blow in regent’s absence. Organizers planned an October 18 bazaar and a tag day on Acton fair day to raise funds for Britain. The Acton Boys and Girls Band won first prize at the Canadian National Exhibition, with thanks sent to band leader Mr. Mason. Mrs. Aylsworth gave a talk on Women’s Rights. refreshments followed.
