First Day Frights and Small Triumphs at Robert Little School
Four year old David Allen faced the first day with nerves and tears as he joined brothers Robbie and Christine, held tight to his mother’s hand on the way to Robert Little kindergarten. Driver of car dies Monday in fatal accident
Sandra Boyd 18 of Fergus died Monday at New Waterloo Hospital after a car crash last week. Also killed was Judith Ann Repongat 17 of RR 5 Rockwood, a singer in the car.

Assessor William Braking Dies Suddenly in Meaford
Acton assessor William Braking died suddenly Sunday night while staying with his brother Clifford in Meaford. He had moved with his wife Charlotta from Acton to Markdale earlier this summer, hoping for provincial takeover of assessing duties. Charlotta survives with a son and a grandson. the Erskines had recently relocated from Toronto and were completing the census when his death occurred. Town officials planned to attend the funeral in Markdale.

Three New School Crosswalks Installed in Town
On the first day of school three crosswalks were installed at Mill Willow by the Bank of Montreal, at School Lane for Robert Little Students, and at Acton Blvd and Queen St for M. Z. Bennett students and high school Rooteset. Approach signs are awaited and town workmen will install them as soon as possible after deliveries dated August 15. White markings indicate the new walks.
