Halton hosts 77th annual plowing match in cold wind
The Halton plowing event drew 21 competitors, with 6 entrants from outside the county and 15 from Halton. Vernon Picket and George Readhead led entries in horse drawn classes, while Mary Picket won the Queen of the Furrow after a plowing display and a short speech. The crowd, smaller than usual, praised the show as tractors begin to dominate and praised the rural urban connections fostered by the event.
