The Acton United Church marked its Twelfth anniversary with a bright fall day and full congregations. Rev Elmer Kenney of Norfolk United Church Guelph preached on The Presence of God from Psalm 139, stressing God’s constant presence guiding and sustaining believers. Rev Robert Meserby of St Stephen’s Toronto sang solos and the Knox Church choir performed. The evening service at Knox Church featured Rev H L Rennie and Rev Kenney spoke on Good finishers, urging moral and spiritual reserve to complete one’s course.

Auto Collision Near Toronto Ends With Ditch Stay
A group en route to Reeve Harrison’s home in Toronto had a sideswipe near Norval and California. Cars of Mr C Hansen and Mr W H Rumley were damaged with one leaving the road into a ditch but no injuries. Officer Howell investigated and the American car and owner could not be located the next day.

A surprise party was held last Thursday at Reeve G. Harrison’s High Park Boulevard home in Toronto. About seventy associates and admirers attended after a motor parade from the Y.M.C.A. A Hydro Commissioner car was sideswiped en route but no one was hurt, yet the event continued. Mrs and Mrs Harrison have lived in Acton for seventeen years and have actively promoted local interests. Luncheon supplies were arranged and a luncheon was served at a nearby home. Games included progressive subre and monopoly with prizes awarded to Mr Harrison after hours at the same table.

The annual fat stock sale at the Ontario Agricultural College in Guelph drew a large crowd last week. Swine and cattle led the figures with steers at twelve cents per pound on a brisk market. top prices reached $50 for Yorkshires. Yorkshires averaged $47.04 and bred hogs sold for notable sums. Acton Public Utilities Commission approved new power rates effective next month reducing domestic service charges and lowering consumption rates. Burglary Case Linked To Car Theft In Etobicoke
Derek Forsyth, 20, of Stewartstown, is in custody in Guelph on unusual grounds after a stolen car from W R McAllister Toronto was found with groceries and other items. Constable Howell first spotted the locked vehicle north of Eden Mills, leading to Forsyth’s arrest and transfer to Milton after questions by local officers.
