The acton continuation school literary society elected officers last Friday afternoon. Officers include Honorary President Miss Porrington, President Jack Siddling, Recording Secretary Bob Harrison, Corresponding Secretary Muriel Agar, Treasurervarry Norton, Ghost Story Editor Olivia Rookes, Powerly Holler Howard Norton, Sports Editors Doyle Stewart Lants and Olila Dorothy Coxe, Social Events Oral Chalmers, Current Events das Sinton, Sergeant at arms All Williams, and numerous class representatives including Audrey McComb and Douglas Guthrie among others.
The Educational Association meeting in Milton on Tuesday discussed rising secondary education expenditures in the County. In 1920 the County contributed 11,600 for High School, compared with 44,500 this year. Officers elected include Honorary President J. M. Denyes and President Belford Savage with Mrs. D. Hartley as Second Vice-President and Marshall A. Campbell as secretary-treasurer.
Fall social notes include Duke of Devonshire Chaplay meeting at Blows home on November 3 eight o'clock. Elections see John Agnew chosen as Conservative standard bearer for Beloraing. act on manhunt and arrests for concealed weapons and attempted robbery near Hamilton. Highway crash near Port Credit injures multiple, with one bail. Halloween Young People's Club program features Amos and Andy sketch and prize winners. Madam Queen noted as rival in skits.
The council met on Sunday with the Employment Branch to discuss relief work and local employment schemes. They planned drainage and frontage adjustments, reviewed street and hydrant repairs, and reviewed a charity payments list while scheduling Remembrance Day arrangements.
Rt. Wor. Niro, W. M. Cooper received the regalia of a Grand Lodge officer at Willer Lodge No. 1 on Monday night marking the first time in over fifty years the Grand Lodge office has been bestowed there. Visitors from Fergun Noranta Georgetown Milton and Kitchener attended along with distinguished Grand Lodge members.
The community mourns James Stewart a longtime Acton resident who died at home in his seventy seventh year leaving a large family in Ontario and Manitoba. Miss Bella A Gordon a pioneer Gordon daughter died in Toronto at eighty one. both services held in Acton Knox Church with interment in Fairview Cemetery and many distant friends attending.
On Tuesday evening October 27 a mission rally was held at Milton United Church with delegates from local and neighboring churches present. A. Maclaren presided as chair of the Missionary and Maintenance Fund, Rev. Val Tilton closed the service, and Capt. Scott spoke of western missionary work. The event featured strong appeals for support of home missions and highlighted church activities across Carleton and surrounding communities.
The wedding took place at Limehouse United Church with Rev. T H Caldwell officiating. Miss Ina McGoulsy and Jocelyn McCartney attended, bride wore a dice over shell-plack gown, couple to reside in Limehouse after a Hamilton trip.
The weary surgeon recalls a patient treated with two arms hurt, four stitches over one eye, a cast on the leg, and a plan to send money later. The patient motions thanks and mentions a few hundred saved for emergencies.
