At the monthly Acton Public Utilities Commission meeting Chairman L. G. King announced his departure after fourteen years on the panel. Commissioners Arnold Beeve Co Harrison attended as King presided and motions covered fund transfers, bond sales, and paying various department accounts. The group noted street light breakage and agreed to inform police and fill the upcoming vacancy with Mr Hing temporarily taking an electric plant role. King granted absence for November and December. Harrison to serve as acting chairman.

Robbery at Acton Machine Co and break-ins on other buildings
Burglary occurred Monday night at Acton Machine Co in War thow breaking rear door locks. The unlocked safe yielded 17.60, three fountain pens, and small items. Spark plugs were stolen from a car and the interior searched. Locks on the High and Public Schools were broken and buildings entered. Constable Harrop spotted suspicions and provided details as investigations proceed by Chief rere.

Milton Agricultural Park was the scene Saturday for the annual general inspection of the Lorne Scottish Ruiffés by Brig. Elkins assisted by Col Prank Chappel. Five Acton Burlington Georgetown Oakville and Milton companies drilled under Lieuts Weathpoole Killer Millar and Captain Harber Sharpe with stretcher bearers Nesbitt. The Pipe Band led by Pipe Major McCurrell and the Brace Band by Sgt Ferrett performed well as the unit drilled. A banquet followed in the Armories and dancing to Lehman’s radio orchestra from Oakville marked the celebration.

Halton Plowmen Defy Records at Caledonia Match
The Halton plowmen held at Caledonia last week broke most records with 40 to 50 entrants. Walton led several classes while Harold Picket won a ceremonial tea service for the stubble championship. Ray Blacklock placed sixth in third class stubble among forty two contestants in a county competition. The Halton team of Fuller Hormby McNabb Town Ray Blacklock placed fifth in a wider contest with entrants from seventeen counties. Stanley Fuller finished twelfth among fifty one competitors. The Halton Match is slated for November 1 at Wm Moore's farm Esqueaing Township.
