Lonpox Eng Oct 20 The Hon W S Fielding Canadian Minister of Finance and his daughter were entertained at dinner by Lord Mayor Davies at the Mansion House. The Lord Mayor toasted Fielding, praising his mission, Fielding thanked London for the historic hospitality and Canada for imperial unity and tariff measures.
Magistrate Daly ruled there was no evidence to justify remanding Ponton on charges of breaking into the Dominion Bank in August and stealing 32 000. Ponton returned to Napanee and offered to work at the bank. his lawyer had instructions to pursue charges of false arrest and alleged conspiracy by detectives Dougherty and Wilkes.
A French Canadian man drew and flourished a revolver during a disturbance in Ottawa. Police intervened and detained him as bystanders watched in alarm when the weapon was brandished near a public area. No injuries were reported.
