Dominion revenue for September 1898 reached 4 128 662 dollars, up from 95 160 268 the prior September 1897, a gain of 948 809. For the year to date monthly increases total 8 127 152 while expenditures rose only 300 909, forecasting a substantial year end surplus. Italy’s naval program was dropped due to finances, with a 28 000 000 lira naval credit and a projected year budget deficit of 17 000 000 lire.
