Acton Fall Fair 1923 ran Tuesday and Wednesday with ideal autumn weather and strong attendance on par with prior years. Races offered increased purses to 750 dollars but failed to boost crowd size. Exhibitors reported satisfaction with judging and prize lists across heavy and light horse divisions, cattle classes, and speeding contests, amid broader notes on transportation and fair economics.
Wilda McMullen, 14, won first prize in the school drawing contest in Miss Bennett's room. Judges J L Jones and engraver published engravings of the top entries by John Mann and Franch Wilds, ages 14 and 36 respectively. A Japanese Bamboo craft fountain will be presented to Wilda on visiting the piece.
Local groups report a business meeting on October 16 at four o'clock with good attendance requested. The Acton Women’s Institute plans fruit donation to Sick Children’s Hospital and highlights a talk on education. Acton’s oldest citizen, Mrs. Agnew, celebrated her ninety-first year and shared memories of Park Avenue walks. At Georgetown last Friday and Saturday a fine fall fair drew a record Saturday crowd amid bright cool weather. Exhibits filled both halls and fields with strong entries across classes. The weekend featured racing in the 2.27 class, music from the Highlanders pipe band and Georgetown Citizens' Band, plus Armenian farm performers. County Council programs funded fair support with $200 for school fairs and $80 for local fairs. a by law set $90,000 for road projects and a by law appointed Hoy F. SES Se as county engineer.

The Acton Ladies Hansball Team defeated Brockville on a Saturday game to end their season before a small crowd. Despite bad weather, Acton started strong and played solidly throughout. Afterward they hosted the visiting Brookville team for a town hall reception and dance.
One hundred and five bushels of Marquis wheat were harvested from a single acre on the Alberta Agriculture farm. Graded No 1 Northern, the yield may be a provincial record. Oats yielded two hundred five bushels from the harvest on another area, and barley across 37 acres averaged 10 bushels per acre while ten more acres produced 10 bushels per acre.
