Rockwood CEES reflects on motherhood as a highly skilled, multi role profession requiring endless abilities beyond education. The piece lists duties from bottle washing to psychologist, notes the unsung labor of parenting, and ends by acknowledging fathers also share in the parental role.
A series of pre wedding showers honored Miss Donna Marie Milne for her upcoming marriage to Allan Roger Schink. Entertaining guests included Mrs Marian Anderson and Mrs B Funk with a bat and linen shower, and a family party by the groom's sister Mrs Hohenadel of Puslinch. The University of Guelph animal science staff gave an electric blanket and money envelope, while a junior group from Rockwood Presbyterian presented an electric clock. Other events included a personal shower hosted by Mrs Denise Bolton, a miscellaneous shower at Doris Jestin’s Everton home, a pantry shower by Mrs Helen Hills and daughters, plus a bachelor party for the groom with a money gift.
A full attendance of the Number One Group of the Rockwood United Church Woenen met for a meeting at the United Church. Nearing October 3 with E. Hosking presiding as president. Mrs. Alex McPhedran conducted devotional and roll call used a verse of thanks. Mrs. Hosking thanked all past members. J Patterson and Mrs. Trusdale served lunch and a social hour followed.
A 50th wedding anniversary celebration for Mr. and Mrs. Al Shultis was held at Rockwood Presbyterian Church with an Open House at Centennial Public School. About 180 guests from Guelph Brampton Preston Angus and Rockwood attended. The couple have four children ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Residents urged to attend Rockwood council monthly meeting at Town Hall 7 30 p m next Thursday October 23 to discuss water resource commission issues and other village matters. Support your council and stay informed about pending decisions affecting the community.
A three tier cake baked by the versatile bride and another from Mrs. Douglas McNabb formed part of the repast. More cards and gifts were given, with telegrams arriving from Prime Minister Trudeau Alf Hales and opposition leader Stanfield.
Rockwood bowling results show Untouchables whitewashing Towashers 2 0. High scorers include Neighbours Dunc MacPhedsin 632 and Doug Buttenham 634. Queen of Hearte Ted Jestin 627, Jen tcher 635 led single games. Carney's beat Alleycats 2 0. Nomar defeated Stratton's 2 0. Standings list Untouchables 14 points, Carney's and Norton’s 12, Stratton's and Queen of Y Elmer's Alleycats 11, Neighbours 9, Whitewashers 0.

Officials cited no screens on the building and closed windows in hot weather, raising concerns about unsafe ventilation.
