Local shop promotes a large selection of paper, ink, blotters, receipts, and blank notes. It also advertises wedding and birthday presents, spectacles, jewelry, school books, and other fancy items as the town’s largest stationery dealer.
Acton reports a bustling autumn with grain trades by E Nicklin Son and rising prices for old wheat 80 to 84 cents. The Mil ton county fair opens today with notable prizes for W E Smith and Ayrshire cattle, while Rev G H C Macgregor plans Knox Church sermons and Miss Williams sings in Acton.
The Acton club defeated Bolton by a heavy margin at the Agricultural Park in Braing ton last Thursday securing the county championship. Other items include a fatal sudden illness of Mrs. Thomas Worsnop, a near-fatal fall on a threshing floor, and local notices about smallpox rumors debunked and community events at St Albans Church Harvest Home Festival.
Purely personal items list visits and movements of residents and visitors. W H Storey sails to New York while John Halgate of Toronto visits Acton. Thomas Lee returns to Chicago duties. Mrs. James Goodall and Edward Nicklin of Guelph spend time here. Lawyers Shilton Allan & Baird open Georgetown office. MP Robt Hocking of Pictou, N S calls. he attended the Sovereign Grand Lodge session in Baltimore and heads home.
The Guelph Presbytery accepted Rev. D. B. Camerons resignation from Knox Church Acton and declared the pulpit vacant. The meeting heard testimony to Camerons faithful ministry and his conscientious adherence to resignation, while expressing sympathy for the congregation deprived of a pastor and noting potential future preaching invitations.
Ladies are cordially invited to attend a second display of fine millinery on Thursday October 8. The event promises two attractive productions for visitors and all are invited to attend.
