Y M C A Opens Season Activities at Acton
The Y M C A opened its season with a social night last Thursday at Acton Hall. A large crowd enjoyed games quiz contests and a varied program followed by lunch and dancing. Acton Boys Band Praised After Concert in Town Hall
The Acton Boys Band under Chas W Mason presented a concert in Town Hall before parents and friends. About 20 to 25 boys performed scales and pieces reflecting months of training. Judge Geo Elliott won first, Ken Anderson second, Aldo Braldo third in a contest featuring eleven players. The Lambert Twins of Rockwood and Ken Anderson contributed extra numbers, with Kirkness of the Y's Men’s Club as chair.

The Halton Holstein Club and Halton Jersey Cattle Club organized the county Holstein and Jersey shows at Milton Fair in cooperation with Walton Agricultural Society. Holsteins drew 108 entries, Jerseys over 80, with judges praising quality. Durno Innes of Woodstock awarded Jerseys. Reports, though incomplete, indicate a very successful show and strong finances. United Church Marks Anniversary with Special Services
The Acton United Church marked its nineteenth anniversary with large congregations and a full choir. Rev. J B Moore of St Paul’s Milton delivered morning and evening sermons on the theme Go Forward and Walls of Partition. Interdenominational cooperation featured a Baptist withdrawal in the morning and Presbyterian participation in the evening.

Teeswater Fair Draws Acton Figures and Local Attendees
About 18 000 visited the Teeswater fair yesterday with gate receipts around 10 shillings for afternoon admittance. The grounds were praised for their use of space and three bands performed while a continuous platform attraction operated. The Ashthore exhibit ranked below Acton but the heavy horse show with four tandem teams drew praise. Attendees from Acton included RR Lewrie Geo Somerville Mr and Mrs Matthews and Donald.
