The Acton United Church of Canada lists the Hobam Society program with the Minister delivering a talk. Sabbath School at 2 20 p.m. and the minister again at 7 00 p.m. on Sunday. The Young People's League meets Monday at eight with a Serve-Us Group programme and a prayer service Thursday at 7 30 p.m.
At 11.00 a.m. the Minister preaches on Love and Vision. At 3.00 p.m. Sabbath School and Bible Classics present The Tale of Denial. Monday evening at 8 o'clock the Young People’s Guild meets. Strangers leaving address with ushers will be called upon by the Pastor.
Classified notices advertise job openings, real estate for sale, lost and found items, and misc wants from HALT to Hamilton era. Listings mention glove makers, car parts, room rentals, furnishings, and office spaces in Acton and surrounding towns.

Acton Chamber of Commerce holds a robust meeting with new members and approves a rest room for the Ryder and Mowat building funded by local organizations and council grants. The group also backs low property assessments to encourage housing, notes Beardmore Co. offer of free building sites, seeks more road signs from the Ontario Motor League, and supports continuing the Scout Movement with a banquet committee named for planning.
The second annual convention of the Young People of Guelph Presbytery United Church concluded at Dublin Street United Church with music and addresses. Officers were elected and installed by Rev. Roy Frid as the group plans a new program and a conference in Guelph on October 21 and 22.
At Toronto's National Exhibition Alberta exhibitors claimed 19 first prizes 6 second prizes and third prizes for thirteen creamery butter entries. Woodland Dairy Ltd Edmonton won the silver cup for the highest scoring butter with 98.7 out of 100. Central Creameries Ltd Calgary and Mr C Christensen of Edmonton Pure Butter Co were awarded high average scores in tie classes.

Albert Thomasson, supervisor of annealing ovens at the International Malleable Iron Co plant in Guelph, was shot dead early Saturday. Police offer no motive, though a missing pay envelope of about 27 dollars may be suspected.
The Empress of Scotland docked at Father Point as Viscount Willingdon and Viscountess Willingdon prepared to take oath and assume duties. Reporters pressed for comments but the new governor general deferred formal interviews until installation. He stressed readiness to serve and anticipated cordial relations with Canada, noting Rideau Hall as a home away from home.
Robert T. McLaughlin, son of the late Hugh and Mrs McLaughlin of Acton, died in a Buffalo hospital on September 29 after months of cancer. His brother Nelson visited him. the funeral was held at his brother Crowson McLaughlin's home with Rev. Zimmerman and Rev. Stewart officiating. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery. He was 59, born on the family homestead near Crewsons Corner, lived in Huntville, Toronto, and Buffalo in recent years. Friends gathered from Toronto and Buffalo for the service.
Police court notes from Coburg Star report a Milton resident fined ten dollars for a drunken argument and a second offender, Rupert M. Smith of Port Credit, jailed for liquor possession. Dwight Hanson, charged with public drunkenness, was jailed until he names the liquor source.
In Knox Church a light exchange over a water pitcher and a painting leads to a remark about rhetoric. The notice invites Rev Tom Sykes and Mr H I Piper to attend on Friday November 26 with the date kept open.
