Acton Nomination Meeting Draws Large Candidate List

Acton held a lively Friday nomination session with four candidates for reeve fourteen for council four for Public Utilities three for School Trustees and nine for the three school board seats. Reeve E Thetford defended stewardship noting debt reduction and lower mill rate while outlining Murray Memorial details and future highway plans.

Two Farewell Presentations At Mason Knitting Co Party

Mason Knitting Company employees held a social evening at the Legion Hall on Tuesday for two departures. Agnes McBain wed soon and Jessie Young leaves for Toronto General Hospital training. Guests gave handwritten addresses and gifts, then the group shared lunch and songs.

Bride-Elect Edna Gibbon Honored at Acton Social

Acton society guests Miss Edna Gibbon enjoyed a treasure hunt gift basket at a bridal shower hosted by Miss Meryl Grindell and Mrs. William Ramsden. Community notices include W. J. The Knox Church choir in Guelph presented a Tuesday night concert under E. H. Actonon voters set to elect town officials for 1935

Qualified candidates will appear on the ballot for Reeve, four Council seats, and Public Utilities Commission. School trustees were elected by acclamation. Election day is Monday December 3 with two polling booths at Town Hall and Hydro Shop. Voters decide amid lively municipal discussion.

Halton Livestock Group Plans Batches to Fight Parasites

At the Halton County Livestock Improvement Association meeting held last week Dr. Lionel Stevenson outlined methods to exterminate bot flies in horses and warbles on cattle. He cited 65 percent of equine colic cases linked to bot larvae as farmers discuss barn meetings in December to promote treatment. County vets will assist with capsules at 35 cents per horse and new officers were elected for the association.

Halton County Probes Museum Space at November Meeting

Halton County Council met in Milton with all members present and the Warden presiding. Delegates from the Halton Women's Institutes asked for space in County Buildings or lobby area to start a Halton County Museum, citing many artefacts and a potential donor from Laura Secord's descendant. The Council and Warden supported cooperation and referred the space search to Mr Ramshaw for next meeting.

Autumn exams set to close term, December dates listed

December 6 and 7 are set aside to complete the autumn examination series with results forming the Autumn Term report. A public notice lists the It Home date as December 20 and reports multiple local incidents including burglaries, a highway accident, bridge accident injuries, and a coroner's inquest verdict related to a fatality.
