Teachers Taught In Play At Acton Public School
Acton Public School hosted a meeting of the School Association on Monday November 24 with Wes Wolfe as chairman. EB Smith presented safety films and a talk on using film for science education while Bo McKeown and Geo McKenzie spoke on social studies. Miss D Forster led a rambunctious stage lesson as visiting inspector Jim Greer observed the student teachers.

Pre-Dawn Fire Call To Acton Creamery
Two Toronto workmen welding coolers at the Acton Creamery smelled smoke at 5 15 am and called the fire brigade as doors were locked. Firefighters found a blaze caused by two compressor motors burning out on the ice making machine. Steve Dimitro and Georgie Dimitro, working alone, reported smoke and locked doors hindered sight. The fire stayed in a small area. manager D Coleman of Hamilton reported the incident.

Mrs W Dobbie hosted Bannockburn WI as members met on November 19. Roll call featured singing and playful comments. A Greek relief request urged warm quilts and lead pencils for teachers overseas. Plans included a novelty sale, quilt and bath towel draw, and a Christmas party. New WI badges were sold. Mrs W McDonald filled in for Les Duby on the district report. Mrs M Gordon led a quiz won by Miss Marguerite Storey. Lunch followed with social time.
