Acton demolishes the old Tennis Club building at 64 Mil Street North to make way for a 6000 square foot Foodland Supermarket. Construction begins this week with completion slated for mid April of the year. The unfinished site features a staged photo caption.

Santa announced the five winners of the Santarama draw held last Saturday at the Lakeside J.C.D.E. bazaar in the hall. Winners received cash vouchers valid at Acton merchants with top prize of 30 dollars going to Mary Papillon and other prizes of 25, 20, 15, and 10 dollars awarded to local residents Gail Farrell Donna Reed and Mrs Maslene Titon. The next draw is scheduled for 3 p.m. this Saturday in front of the town office. no presence required to win.
A high speed chase on four county roads Saturday night began with a routine check by Constable Beuca McArthur of Acton OPP on a rented car. A 24 year old Guelph man was charged with dangerous driving as the vehicle crashed on the First Line, Eqqueing, causing $1,000 damage and no injuries were reported.
Acton police investigate the theft of a purse believed to contain light items at Acton High School. Constable McArthur led the inquiry as Lynn Froehlich of Campbellville reported the incident. Police also noted insecure premises at two Acton bunley locations during the past week.
At a Monday general dinner meeting the Acton Chamber of Commerce reviewed a tough year of action. About 30 of 56 members attended at region hall to hear Ontario director Bob Barnhill and discuss by law updates. two proposals were deferred after criticism. President John Shadbolt urged broader participation and new ideas to boost activity and town improvement, citing festive projects, parking study, and the planned industrial park presentation to council.
