Robert Watson a longtime resident died Saturday at age seventy five after a month of illness. He lived on Church Street and farmed beside his homestead later building a brick home and bank barn. Surviving are his widow and three sons Ray Shirley and Perry and Mrs Wielby. Funeral Monday afternoon at family church with interment in Fairview Cemetery.
The 307 Chemical Company of Toronto faced a 1000 dollar fine plus costs for selling liquor despite a ban by the Ontario License Commission. Other cases include Dean Harley fined 2000 with costs for threatening Chief Jackson during a drain obstruction dispute, and Benham fined 10 dollars plus 13.50 costs for improper language to a constable. A man named McDonald was convicted, fined 400 plus costs for possessing mash. O Keefe Beverages of Toronto received a 2000 dollar fine for selling beer. The Women’s Auxiliary of St Alban’s Church announced its annual bazaar for December 13.
The Elaljou County Educational Society met at Milton on Wednesday to advocate making Latin a compulsory subject or added to matriculation, supporting a one year extension in the high school course and inclusion in the public school curriculum. Officers were elected: Honorary President JJM, Vice President Trafalgar, Secretary Treasurer Campbell Nelson, and directors named for Acton Georgetown Alton Mid, Oakville Trafalgar Nelson Mol Elilay with several municipal appointees.
Commissioner Willan chaired a provincial conference in Toronto with officials including James Nalow K O Frank Ellett Altron C Cuday and John Ayrla ret outlining a tougher O T A campaign.
