Snowy mishap leaves Sangistrate Mollveen with a fractured right arm after the garage door closed on him. The coldest November first half since 1840 is noted with subzero and near ten degree readings, while church and club events recount inductions, missions, lectures, and holiday toy drives across the community.
The Halton Presbytery gathered at Trafalgar United Church at 2 00 p m with Rev F L Carpenter leading devotional exercises Rev C Poole presiding Rev Dr MacLachlan spoke on West relief efforts noting 140 cars and 1 400 clothing items sent by the United Church as aid to the needy The Prohibition Union secretary urged protest against beer and wine changes and ministers and lay people were urged to send protest cards A conference on Sunday School work followed with Rev R W Rumley Rev E C Seymour Rev Dr Little and others sharing views Ladies of Munni Church provided supper Delegates praised the services of the ladies and the session closed with further remarks from Rev MM BH Poole and Rev F L Braisley
A snowstorm failed to deter Acton's Remembrance Day service as veterans from D Company Lorne Rifles led by the Acton Citizens' Band joined a civic gathering. Wreaths were laid for Ontario, Acton, and local groups, with readings, prayers, and remarks from Rev. C L Gifford and others.
A large Sunday gathering unveiled the Memorial Gates at Eden Mills Cemetery honoring early pioneers. Rev Archdeacon Scoville and local descendants led the service while the Eden Mills Women's Institute funded and organized the red granite and steel landmark receiving broad donations from across Canada and the United States.
Nassagaweya Council met on Monday November 6 and passed the annual accounts and an election by law at the last regular meeting. Items included expenditures for health care and memorial plot maintenance, bonds renewals, wood for hail, road superintendent vouchers, and a grant of 625.00 for Mrs EB McDonald and three months care of B Millson. The by law provides for the municipal election with the usual readings. Council adjourned to December 15 at 10 oclock a m.
Fiver bales of clothing were packed and sent to the West last week by the Ladies Missionary Society of the Presbyterian Church. The item notes charity work and distribution to western provinces. The report also mentions local social and church events including bridge gathering hosted by Miss Marguerite Symon and prizes for Bernice Reid and Mrs Jas. Adamson. The Carolina Jubilee Gingers will perform in Acton in two United Church concerts. A quiet wedding united Vera Mae Vickers and Roy Edwin Denny at the Manse with Rev. H L Bennie M A officiating. plans include a trip to Midland and a farm residence west of Acton.
A midnight blaze destroyed a building at the Cooksville Brick Company and damaged Lloyd Refineries offices and storerooms. Explosives used in blasting are suspected as the ignition source amid claims of spontaneous combustion. The Esquesing Township Council met in Stewarttown with several accounts and by law provisions approved and a four year road sheet budget authorized.
A large crowd attended the Acton Schools memorial service in the Town Hall on Friday evening. Principal Herbert and Miss Marjorie Near spoke, with students singing including six girls and Harvey McCutcheon. Prizes for essays on The Poppy were awarded, and Father McBride gave a commemorative address stressing gratitude to soldiers and duty to country.

Eramosa Township Council met November 13 in Rockwood with Reeve Sims McLean presiding. By law numbers set December 22 for nomination and New Year’s Day for polling, a dog tax refund was partially upheld, and accounts totaling $617.25 were approved as the board adjourned.
Acton residents enjoyed a Trousseau Tea at Mrs. Louis Vickers home honoring Vera Mae on the eve of her marriage to Roy Denny. The Euchre and dance hosted by Acton Baseball Club awarded prizes to Mra. Co. Welshman W. Holloway W. D. Talbot M. Tyler and J. Porteous. The Sunrise Trail presentation earned bouquets for Mrs. A J. Buchanan and Mrs. H L. Bennie. Knox Presbyterian Players staged another well attended performance. A Peel-Halton House of Refuge expansion contract worth 1185 was awarded to add fourteen beds in Brampton. Local youth show interest in a Commercial Course at Acton High School starting next week with classes Mon Tue Thu 7:30 to 10:30. Instructors include Rev Father McBride Mrs. B D Rachlin and Mr. F Salt with Mr. F McCleary handling bookkeeping. Tuition about 40 cents weekly.
The Public Utilities Commission met yesterday afternoon with Commissioners Kerr and King present. The Secretary was instructed to pay Bell Telephone Co. 4.15 for services and Macdonald Electric 21.44 for supplies plus 1.28 to N. R. and Transports, total 26.87. Waterworks costs include 3541 for power in spring and 101.20 for October operations. A transfer of 1000 from Waterworks to General account was approved. Arrears list showed improvement and work continued on individual cases. The committee thanked supporters of the campaign.
